Bene ts of Breastfeeding
Babies who are breastfed have fewer ear infections, respiratory
problems, diarrhea, and tummy distress than formula-fed babies
have, and less risk of developing childhood acute leukemia and
type 1 and 2 diabetes later in life.
Nursing appears to lower the mom’s risk for type 2 diabetes,
breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and postpartum depression, and
it may help moms lose that postpregnancy baby weight.
If you plan to breastfeed,
AAMC o ers you these
classes and support groups:
Breastfeeding Basics
Breastfeeding and
the Working Mother
Breastfeeding Support Group
Back to Work and
Breastfeeding Support Group
