AAMC Foundation: Making an Impact
Make a Di erence
On July 31, 2011, after weeks of bed rest due to a high-risk
pregnancy, Amanda and Eric Fiedler’s third son arrived
prematurely at 33 weeks. Zachary was delivered through
an emergency cesarean section. He was not breathing
and was immediately taken to the neonatal intensive care
unit (NICU). At the same time, Amanda hemorrhaged
and underwent surgery to save her life. She received a
combination of 15 units of blood and platelets. Amanda
spent the next three days in intensive care while Zachary was
treated in the NICU, where he remained for four weeks.
Today, Zachary is a healthy 3-year-old and Amanda is

enjoying every day with him, her husband and their other two
sons, Alex and Charlie.
“Our family was profoundly a ected by this day. We wanted
to nd a way to give back to the hospital that kept our family
together, that saved both our son’s life and my life.”
e Fiedlers did just that. ey have planned and held a family
event, the Annual Birthday Blood Drive and Tiny Miracles
NICU Fundraiser, for the past three years. e event has not only
provided fun and entertainment for families in the community,
but it has raised approximately $5,000 to date for the NICU and
collected over 119 pints of blood for AAMC.
While AAMC’s mission is simple—to enhance the
health of the communities we serve—it takes a lot of
hard work and dedicated people to make it happen.
AAMC is consistently recognized by state and national
organizations for the innovative and high-quality
medical care we provide—but we cannot do it alone.
Philanthropic donors are essential to our progress in
acquiring advanced technology, funding programs and
building facilities to provide the best possible care for
the patients we serve.
An important part of AAMC’s success is you, our many
community members who give generously to ensure
AAMC is there for anyone in need, providing expert
medicine, talent and technology. It is the compassion of
the entire AAMC family that makes a di erence in the lives of
our patients, families, friends, and neighbors.
The AAMC Foundation is asking for your continued support
this fall. Donors have an opportunity to support many di erent
programs and services. Your tax-deductible donation will have
an immediate and substantial impact on the healthcare, and
consequently on the quality of life, for all who enter our doors.
When you receive a call or our mailing this fall, please
consider a contribution to sustain, improve and expand the
hospital’s care, technology and services.
