replacement programs.
After retiring,
Dr. Steele began his
own consulting firm,
which helps hundreds
of medical centers
across the country to
implement similar
patient-focused
programs. Then in
the fall of 2010, armed with an intimate knowledge of
the country’s top joint centers, he came back to the place
where it all started.
“I didn’t become a true expert until I became a patient,”
Dr. Steele reflects. “Now I’m keeping up with my grandkids,

for what to bring to surgery and a breakdown of the day of
your surgery.
During your stay.
The morning after your surgery, you’ll be
helped to your feet and on your way to recovery with group
physical therapy, social lunches and training with family members.
At home and on your way back.
Armed with information and
a family member trained as your coach, you’ll return home,
generally on the second or third day after surgery. You’re ready
to embark on your journey through rehab and back to a more
active life.
