and to have the birthing and postpartum experience they desire. We
bring the best and most comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic
services to area women at the Rebecca M. Clatanoff Pavilion on
the Medical Park campus. We provide every expectant mother with
personalized care during labor and after her baby is born. Moms and
their families enjoy the soft lighting and homelike amenities of our
private birthing suites. Fathers may room in, and family members

Governor
Visits AAMC
Governor Martin O’Malley and Secretary of the
Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Josh
Sharfstein, MD, visited the Women’s and Children’s Center
at AAMC to announce that Maryland has maintained a
record-low infant mortality rate of 6.7 per 1,000 live births
for the second consecutive year.
We are delighted that the hard work and dedication put
forth by our organization and our colleagues at neighboring
health facilities has made Maryland a safer place for women
to give birth and receive care,” said Sherry Perkins, RN, PhD,
AAMC’s chief operating officer and chief nursing officer, in
her opening remarks.
Our strategies for driving down infant mortality are
saving lives,” said Governor O’Malley. “But progress is never
inevitable; it has to be earned. We have to work for it, and
therefore our work continues.”
AAMC is the second largest birthing facility
in Maryland, with more than 5,300 babies
born here in the last year.
