The Regional Choice
for Joint Replacement
AAMCʼs Joint Center, a national model, works wonders for
patients by offering them less pain and a faster recovery closer
to home. Here’s what our patients say about their experience.
“Everybody here’s superb. I
recommend this hospital above
any other.”
—Ray Brussard,
Owings, Md.
“I won’t be confined to the house.
I’ll be able to go out and garden.
I’ll be able to go out and walk,
kayak—all the things that I
used to enjoy.”
—Faye Byrne,
Tilghman Island, Md.
“I’m feeling great; I have
no pain; I walk up the steps
beautifully. I wouldn’t go
anywhere else.”
—Emanuele
Crupi, Forestville, Md.
“This facility has really been
impressive to me. Everybody was so
great. It’s kind of hard to say you’ll
enjoy a stay in the hospital, but I
really enjoyed it!”
—Albert Doby,
Upper Marlboro, Md.
“This program that they have
here at the hospital is excellent. It
really is possible to get up and get
moving pretty quickly.”
—Janice
McIntosh, Annapolis, Md.
Deborah Barber is no stranger to surgery. In 2007, after years of
hip pain and considering joint surgery, she finally decided she’d
had enough. That’s when she first met Jim MacDonald, M.D., a
surgeon at the Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center. With
the help of Dr. MacDonald and the team at the AAMC Joint
Center, Barber chose to undergo hip replacement surgery and
took back her life from joint pain.
So when hip pain reared its ugly head again, she knew just what
to do. She came back to Dr. MacDonald and the AAMC Joint
Center for an anterior hip replacement. This time, she didn’t put
off surgery—she trusted her care to the AAMC Joint Center, a
national model for joint replacement programs and #1 in the state
of Maryland in total joint replacement surgeries.
“Dr. MacDonald and the team at the AAMC Joint Center are
very caring and they know what they’re doing,” says Barber, who
is especially happy to be gardening again. “I wouldn’t trust my
care to any other hospital.”

“I can do so many more
things than I could
do before. I wouldn’t
have gone to any other
hospital than this one.”
—Deborah Barber,
Glen Burnie, Md.
